Arenal Volcano

The Arenal volcano is located in the district of La Fortuna, canton of San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela. It has a height of 1670 meters above sea level. The volcano is located within the Arenal Volcano National Park.

It is one of the most visited volcanoes in Costa Rica and known nationally and internationally. It is considered an active volcano that is currently in a period of passivity, that is, there have been no eruptions of lava, ash or other incandescent materials since 2010.

Due to its volcanic activity that began in 1968, it has become one of the most important tourist sites. Currently, due to its passive activity, there are a large number of hot springs of volcanic origin in its surroundings, which are used by hotels and tourist centers as an attraction.
